Install or update

Azure CLI beta version
The beta version of the Azure CLI supports all CLI commands that you will find in the current released version. The beta version is a migration from the released Azure CLI as the AAD authentication platform (v1.0) is being deprecated. Microsoft Identity platform (v2.0) is the new authentication method and is used by Azure CLI beta. We recommend that you try the beta version in advance.

Proxy blocks connection
If you can't download the MSI installer because your proxy is blocking the connection, make sure thatyou have your proxy properly configured. For Windows 10, these settings are managed in the
Settings > Network & Internet > Proxy pane. Contact your system administrator for the required settings,or for situations where your machine may be configuration-managed or require advanced setup.

These settings are also required to be able to access Azure services with the CLI, from bothPowerShell or the Command Prompt. In PowerShell, you do this with the following command:

Completion is not working
The Homebrew formula of Azure CLI installs a completion file named
az in the Homebrew-managed completions directory (default location is /usr/local/etc/bash_completion.d/ ). To enable completion, please follow Homebrew's instructions here.
Unable to find Python or installed packages
There may be a minor version mismatch or other issue during homebrew installation. The CLI doesn't use a Python virtual environment, so it relies on findingthe installed Python version. A possible fix is to install and relink the
python3 dependency from Homebrew.
CLI version 1.x is installed
If an out-of-date version was installed, it could be because of a stale homebrew cache. Follow the update instructions.
Proxy blocks connection
